College Disc Golf Nationals: Day One, Schat Eyes National Championship Title

ROCKHILL, SC - The Redeemer Royals kicked off the College Disc Golf Championships Wednesday with a strong showing. The Royals field three teams at this year's Championships.

The Men's A team began the competition with the Singles portion of the Championship. Kalan Schat made a statement to the field posting a scorching six below par. Schat sits in solo second place as he prepares for the final nine tomorrow. Kalan is only three strokes behind the leader and is more than capable of bringing home the Singles National Championship. The lead card will tee off at 4:20 PM EST on Thursday.

The three other athletes making up the Men's A team also had strong showings. Their consistency has the team tied for 5th place entering the team rounds of the competition.
The Women's team competed well on day one in the Singles portion. Leah Don narrowly missed the Final Nine qualification cut-off. The Women's team sits in 17th entering the teams portion of the competition.

The Men's B team opened the competition with a team round in Division Two. After a strong opening round, the Royals are in the heart of the competition.

Day two of the College Disc Golf National Championships could be historic for the Royals. Kalan Schat has the opportunity to be crowned the  Singles National Champion.
