Freire, Quan & Owusu Sign with Men's Soccer
ANCASTER, ON – The Redeemer Royals Men's Soccer program is excited to announce the addition of three new recruits ahead of the 2025 OCAA season. Head Coach Matt Hahn continues to strengthen the roster with the signings of Joshua Freire, Clinton Owusu, and Leandro Quan.
Joshua Freire, a fullback/centre-back, joins the Royals from Hamilton, Ontario. A graduate of Bishop Ryan Catholic Secondary School, Freire has developed his game through the Flamborough Dundas Soccer Club and brings strong defensive versatility to the Royals' back line. Freire shared his excitement to join a program that "is so connected and comfortable, everyone is with each other, and how everyone is treated like family."
Clinton Owusu, a midfielder from Brampton, Ontario, brings international experience to the squad. A graduate of Eastern Canada High School, Owusu has spent time playing with German clubs TSV Eller 04 and MSV Düsseldorf. In Canada, he has suited up for Prostars FC and Brampton East Fire, adding both technical skill and composure to the midfield. Owusu shared, that while at Redeemer he hopes to, "At every single turn to let it be known that Jesus Christ is my Lord and Saviour, on the field and in the auditorium, and that on my best day, I'm a Sinner saved by Grace."
Leandro Quan hails from Edmonton, Alberta, and attended Archbishop O'Leary High School. A product of the men's premier Edmonton Scottish SC, Quan is a valuable addition with experience at a high level of competition in Alberta. Quan shared "(while at Redeemer) I aim to let my faith guide the way I compete and interact with others. I want to be a teammate who encourages and uplifts others. My goal is to use my platform as a student-athlete to represent God's love through my integrity."
The Royals welcome Joshua, Clinton, and Leandro to the program and look forward to their impact on and off the field this fall.
