This volleyball star turned goalkeeper has helped the Redeemer men's soccer team to their best start in program history. Undefeated in five games to start the season, Bontkes has stared in all but the opener in his first season in net. After saving a penalty in the 90th minute against Mohawk the previous Saturday to preserve the win, Bontkes followed it up with back-to-back shutouts including a road win last Thursday against Lambton and a home draw against No. 12 nationally-ranked Niagara on Saturday. Bontkes ends the week with a .960 save percentage.
