Redeemer's Men's Basketball team advanced to their fourth consecutive OCAA Championship and the 2019-2020Â
Male Athlete of the Year led them there. 5th year forwardÂ
Spencer Kerssies capped off his Redeemer career with the prestigious award. It's the first Athlete of the Year nod for Kerssies.Â

It was another dominant season for Kerssies, one of the most well-known players in the league. He finished 3rd in the OCAA in rebound per game (10.6), and averaged 16.7 points per game, averaging a double-double throughout the season.Â

A fan favorite, Kerssies helped the Royals to a 10-2 record at home. Redeemer finished the season with a 15-5 overall league record. For his strong play during the season, he was named an OCAA 1st Team League All-Star. It was his 2nd All-Star award of his career.

At the OCAA Provincial Championships, Kerssies erupted for 32 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Royals to a quarterfinal win against the Sheridan Bruins. He was named player of the game. Redeemer went on to finish 4th at the Championship event and Kerssies was named an OCAA Championship All-Star.Â

Kerssies finishes his Redeemer career as the top rebounder in program history and one of only 5 players to eclipse 1000 career points. Â
