It was a disappointing night for the Redeemer Royals volleyball teams as they traveled to London, Ontario for a Friday night match up against the Fanshawe Falcons. Neither team was able to pick up a win and more importantly the Royals came away with no points. Fanshawe swept the Royals 3-0 in the women's match and handled the men's team 3-1.

With the losses, both Redeemer teams now sit with a record of 4-3. Fanshawe improves to 5-1 on the women's side and 4-2 on the men's side.

The Friday night matches were circled on the calendar for the Royals as the beginning of a tough stretch leading into the Christmas break. With upcoming games against St. Clair College and Mohawk College, the Royals will wrap up their first half of the season with one game at home and one game on the road.

For the Lady Royals, the match was a big test and a win would have worked to solidify Redeemer as one of the top teams in the West division. Despite 3 close games (27-25, 25-23, 25-21), Redeemer was unable to close out either set and remain in the middle of the pack in the OCAA West.

On the men's side, Redeemer entered the game hoping for a winnable match but the Royals never seemed to be able to piece their game together. Redeemer won the third game of the night after the Falcons won the first two but Fanshawe played well and controlled most of the rest of the match winning 25-18, 25-20, 23-25, 25-16.

Both Redeemer teams return to the court on Saturday as they return home to face the St. Clair Saints on Saturday.
