It wasn't the way the Redeemer Royals Women's Basketball team saw the weekend unfolding but a pair of losses has the group still searching for their first win of the 2014-2015 season. Redeemer dropped their weekend games to St. Clair, 91-57 and Lambton, 83-66.
On Friday night, the 3rd quarter proved to be the difference in an otherwise tight match. The Saints outscored the Royals 39-16 as St. Clair's Shannon Kennedy put up 23 points in the quarter and 39 in the match. Redeemer's
Lindsay Moffatt (Hamilton, ON) had a team-high 21 points while
Kayla Suriani (Hamilton, ON) and
Rebekah Couperus (Wilsonville, ON) each added 10.
In Saturday's game, Lambton took a 10 point lead into the half despite the Royals having the advantage 17-9 midway through the 1st quarter. Once again, Moffatt led Redeemer in scoring with 19 points.
The Lady Royals will go back to work this week focusing on getting into the win column when they travel to Sault Ste. Marie this weekend. Redeemer will be in search of two wins in two days as the team will play back-to-back matches against the winless Sault Cougars.
