It wasn't the way the Redeemer Royals Women's Volleyball team wanted to head into the Christmas Break, but a 5 set loss to Cambrian College Friday night and a postponed match against Boreal College on Saturday will have the team hungry to get back to work in January.
Unlike results past, the Royals found themselves on the losing end of a 5 set match in their final game of the semester. Redeemer has been strong in matches that have gone the distance so far during the 2014-2015 season with a 3-1 record going into Friday's game.
The game against Cambrian proved to be Redeemer's final of the semester as travel complications for Boreal College forced the teams to reschedule Saturday's scheduled match.
Set scores from Friday night's match were 18-25, 25-14, 25-20, 23-25, 15-9.
The dominant duo of Straatsma and DeVries led the Royals in the loss.
Curtiss Straatsma (Brampton, ON) had 17 points from 10 kills, 5 aces, and 2 blocks while
Charlene De Vries (London, ON) had 12 kills, 2 aces, and 3 blocks.
Redeemer will begin their second half of the season on January 10th at home against St. Clair College.
