It was a tense and emotional opening on Saturday night in the Redeemer's Men's Volleyball home opener. The Royals took a crazy first set 31-29, deflating the visiting St. Clair Saints, and cruising to a 3-0 victory in the teams season opening match.
Redeemer and St. Clair put on a show for a packed gymnasium in the first set as the much anticipated 2015-2016 got underway. After starting the match down 10-3 following a strong start by St. Clair, Redeemer battled back 1 point at a time, tieing up the match at 18-18 and finally taking the lead at 19-18. Down 22-20, Redeemer once again battle back to tie it at 22-22. From their, it was point for point between the two teams with Redeemer finally winning the set 31-29 after an ace by Mitch Harris.
From there, Redeemer controlled the remainder of the match going up 14-4 in the 2nd set on route to a 25-17 win and then got out to an 11-5 lead in the 3rd, cruising to a 25-14 win and a 3-0 sweep.

Shawn Brus each had a game-highs of 10 points. Reuben Middle and
Justin Clow shared Redeemer's setting duties with 23 and 10 assists respectively.
Redeemer will turn their attention to the Humber Hawks who host the them on Thursday night in a series of 3 upcoming road matches for Redeemer. After Humber, the Royals will face Cambrian College and Boreal College on November 6th-7th. Redeemer's next home game is scheduled for November 13th against the Conestoga Condors.
