After winning their first match of the season against Boreal on November 11th, the Lady Royals were hopeful to continue the trend heading into an important weekend. Redeemer hosted the 3-2 St. Clair Saints Friday night and the 4-1 Fanshawe Falcons on Saturday. The Royals were shut-out however, failing to win a set as they recorded 3-0 losses to both opponents.
On Friday, Redeemer's
Rebekah Oosterhof was the only Royal to score double-digits points, recording 4 kills, 4 aces, and 4 blocks. In Saturday's match, 1st year starter
Abby Sluys had a team-high 5 kills.
After starting the season 1-5, Redeemer has 3 games remaining before the Christmas break. Despite the slow start, a strong finish to 2017 could position the team in a good spot moving into next semester for a push at the playoffs.
The Royals return to action this weekend when they host the Mohawk Mountaineers on Friday night followed by the Conestoga Condors on Saturday.
