After a tough start to the season on the road for the Royals, a home date Friday night may just be the thing to get Redeemer back on track. Redeemer hosts the Sheridan Bruins November 2nd in their Home Openers. The double-header action gets underway at 6:00pm.
With three consecutive losses to open the season for the Lady Royals and a 1-2 record for the Men's team, Redeemer will look to turn their seasons around with their first home date of the season. The comfortable surroundings of Redeemer's gymnasium and the loud, boisterous home crowd, may be just what the Royals basketball teams need. Last season, Redeemer was a combined 16-6 at home throughout the year in regular season play.

While playing at home should be a boost for the Royals, their opponent will certainly be a formidable one. The Sheridan Bruins enter Friday's game with undefeated records. Both teams sport a 3-0 tally, having each defeated St. Clair and Sault College twice. Redeemer has traditionally played well against the Bruins however, taking 3 of 4 in 2017-2018.
On the men's side, the Royals have a 5-5 record against the powerhouse Bruins over their last 10 games. A .500 record over 5 years is impressive, considering the dominance Sheridan has exhibited in the OCAA during that stretch.
The Lady Royals have also combined for a 5-5 record over the last 10 meetings. The Bruins swept both series in 2013-14 and 2014-15, before the Royals returned the favour in 2015-16 and 2016-17. Last season, both teams finished with a 9-11 record. The teams split the season series with Redeemer winning at Sheridan and Sheridan winning at Redeemer.
Second-year guard
Elijah Lostracco leads the team in points per game with 19.7, good enough for 14th overall in the OCAA. The Bruins have two players in the top 15.
Third-year forward, Tobie Brinkman, is averaging 17.7 points per game, landing her in 9th overall in the OCAA. Brinkman has also hauled in 39 total rebounds, the most of any other player in Province. Fifth-year guard, Julia Pavlik is 3rd in the OCAA with 34 rebounds.
