A second half goal by the visiting St. Clair Saints proved to be the difference in today's season opener at Redeemer University College. Despite a very strong showing for the Royals against perennial playoff contender St. Clair, Redeemer drops to 0-1 to start the season and will look to rebound Thursday against the Fanshawe Falcons.

First year Sam Serro didn't waste any time capitalizing for the Royals, netting her first career goal off a beautiful volley in the 22nd minute. After the Saints scored in the 15th minute, the Royals tied the match up just 7 minutes later.
 

NOTABLES

After a difficult season in 2017-2018, the Royals came out strong in today's match. Redeemer boasted a starting lineup that include 7 rookies who outplayed the experienced Saints team for a large portion of the game.

NEXT UP

Redeemer will have their hands full on Thursday night when they host the Fanshawe Falcons. The Falcons won their first match of the season on Saturday outscoring the Lambton Lions 16-0. The Royals dropped both meetings against Fanshawe last season. Kickoff is set for 4pm.
