Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

MEN'S SOCCER ELIMINATED FROM PLAYOFF CONTENTION WITH LOSS AGAINST LIONS

Redeemer drops final home game of the season against the Lambton Lions

The Redeemer Royals Men's Soccer team didn't get the result they were looking for Thursday night as the team wrapped up their home schedule against the Lambton Lions. The game was the final men's soccer home game of 2019. Redeemer hits the road next Wednesday for their final match of the season against the Niagara Knights.

Undefeated against the Lions in their last 5 matches, Redeemer's stream came to and end Thursday night by way of a 2-0 loss.

A goal by Mitchell McAuley as time expired in the first half proved to be the game winner for the Lions. The visitors would add one more in the 75th minute on a penalty shot by Juan Galindo Jr.

Matt Schoenmaker had 4 saves for the Royals.

Thursday night's match was the final home league game for 5 Royals athletes. Dan Grootenboer, Ryan McCaan, Jon Rozema, Stephen VanAndel, and Wesley Schilstra all played their last home soccer games of their careers.

The Royals finish up the 2019 season on Wednesday October 16th in Welland. The Royals (1-7) will face the Niagara Knights (2-6). Kickoff is set for 8pm.
