After a solid outing Saturday afternoon in their season opener against the Mountaineers, Redeemer was looking to translate their strong play into a win Wednesday night. To do so, the Royals would have to end the 6-game win streak the Falcons held against the home team.
The task proved difficult for Redeemer as the Royals were swept by the visitors 3-0. The match set scores were 25-19, 25-19, and 25-18. Throughout the match, Redeemer struggled to stop Fanshawe's potent offense. Inefficiencies on defense and inconsistencies on offense, kept the Falcons ahead in all 3 sets.
The Royals were able to limit their hitting errors on offense but Fanshawe passed well enough to defend.
After dropping the first two sets, Redeemer came out on fire in the third, building a 6-0 lead. However, Fanshawe countered with a run of their own, denying Redeemer the opportunity to get back into the match.
Jasmyn Stoffers had 13 total points for the Royals in the loss while
Maria VanVark had 18 assists.
Janelle Albert led all scorers with 16 points for the Falcons.
The Royals will now travel to St. Clair in Windsor on Saturday for their 2nd road trip of the season. Redeemer will look to grab their first win of the season against the 2-0 Saints. Game time is 2:00pm
