The Royals dropped the first set Wednesday night in their midweek matchup against the Sheridan Bruins but responded winning the next three for the 3-1 victory. Redeemer improved their recorded to 3-1 with the win.
The Royals opened the match sluggish and the Bruins took advantage. Sheridan knocked off the home team in the first set 25-21. However, the loss seemed to light a fire under the Royals, who came back and played dominant volleyball for the next 3 sets. Despite missing 35 serves, the Royals were solid everywhere else on the court. Redeemer outscored the Bruins 61-28, with 36 kills to the Bruins 16. Redeemer finished the match with 17 aces to Sheridan's 6. The Royals also added 33 assists to the visitors 15.
William Winkelhorst led the Royals offensively with 11 kills while
Brayden Stoffers had 7 aces.
Daniel Wolfert added 30 assists.
With the win, Redeemer keeps pace with the top teams in the West. 4 teams enter the weekend with just one loss, including Fanshawe, Conestoga, Niagara, and Redeemer. Humber has yet to lose but has only played 2 matches.
Redeemer will now have an extended break, not seeing the court again until next Friday when they travel to Sudbury to face the Cambrian Golden Shield and Boreal Vipers. Both the Shield and Vipers are winless on the season.
