WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL BACK TO .500, MEN FAIL TO CLOSE OUT CONDORS

Redeemer Volleyball splits Friday night home matchup with the Conestoga Condors

The Redeemer Royals Volleyball teams hosted the Conestoga Condors Friday night as the first semester continues to wind down. Two tightly contested matches finished in a split as the home team and visiting team each collected one win to kickoff the weekend.

The Royals Women's Volleyball team was the victorious home squad Friday night, earning a 3-1 win over the Condors. With the victory, the Royals moved back to .500% with a 4-4 record. The Condors dipped to 2-7.

Led by Abby Sluys, Redeemer won a narrow first set 25-23. The Condors found some momentum in the 2nd, winning 25-21 before Redeemer stormed back to take the 3rd and 4th sets with identical 25-21 scores. Redeemer returned to form in the 4th set, winning 25-18 and forcing a 5th and deciding set. The Royals appeared in control of the 5th set and on their way to victory as the took a 14-9 lead. However, the determined Condors survived 5 game points, forcing extra points in the 5th set. Redeemer would once again have an opportunity at 15-14 to close out the match but Conestoga survived their 6th game-point, eventually going on to win 19-17.
