ROYALS RELEGATED TO CONSOLATION SEMIFINAL WITH LOSS TO DEFENDING NATIONAL CHAMPION STING

Redeemer overmatched in Championship quarterfinal, drop opener to Seneca Sting

The Redeemer Royals were overmatched on Day 1 of the OCAA Men's Basketball Championship in Barrie, Ontario. The Royals went down early in the first quarter to the defending National Champion Seneca Sting and were never able to find their rhythm. Redeemer dropped the contest 83-51 and will now play on the consolation side of the bracket.

Redeemer Foster Brown was named the player of the game with 12 points.

Redeemer will now look to regroup for Friday's match against the Fanshawe Falcons. The Falcons dropped their quarterfinal to the Sheridan Bruins. Redeemer holds a 1-1 record against the Falcons in league play in 2018-19.

The game will get underway at 1pm in Barrie. You can watch it live here

Earlier in the day, the league awards were handed out at the OCAA Men's Basketball Championship banquet. Redeemer's Spencer Kerssies and Foster Brown each picked up significant awards.
