The Redeemer Royals Men's Basketball team toppled the Fanshawe Falcons Wednesday night in a midweek match up in Ancaster. Both teams entered the night tied for 2nd in the OCAA with a 9-3 record. It was the Royals however who walked away with a 92-77 victory over the visiting Falcons for their 10th win of the season.
With the victory, Redeemer moves into a tie for 1st place in the OCAA West with their 10th win of the season. The Royals also keep their strong home record intact, improving to 8-1 at home.
Redeemer opened the match up to the task of facing one of the top teams in the Country, Redeemer built a 27-12 lead after one quarter and a 45-26 lead into halftime. The 2nd half was anything but comfortable for the home side however. Injuries, foul trouble, and a rejuvenated Falcons team keep the match within reach. Fanshawe even pulled the game to within 9 points early in the 4th quarter before Redeemer rallied to close out the match.
The Royals were led by the hot shooting of Nick Green. Green finished the match with 22 points, connecting on 6 3-pointers.
Redeemer will now sit idle until next Thursday when they travel to Conestoga College.
