After a disappointing loss earlier in the week to the Niagara Knights on the road, the Royals served up one of their best matches of the season Saturday afternoon. Redeemer defeated the Nationally ranked St. Clair Saints in a 5-set marathon battle.
In total, the match took roughly two and a half hours as the home team never trailed to the Saints. Taking the first set 31-29, the Royals also won the third and fifth. Set scores from the match were 31-29, 15-25, 25-21, 23-25, 15-13.
With the match tied 2-2, St. Clair finally appeared to take control in the 5th set, building a 11-6 lead. However, the Royals refused to crack, finishing the set on a 9-2 run to stun the visitors and take the match.
Redeemer improved their record to 8-9 while the Saints dipped to 12-4.
Jasmny Stoffers was sensational again for Redeemer with 20 points in the match. Stoffers finished with 16 Kills, 3 Aces, and 1 Block.
Abby Sluys added 17 points for the Royals.
Saturday's match was the final home game of the season for the Women's Volleyball team. Senior athletes
Cassie Heidbuurt,
Kaitlyn Homan, and
Rebekah Nash were honored before the match.
Redeemer has one more league game at Humber College on February 13th before preparations for their first round playoff crossover match will begin.
