The Redeemer Royals are headed back to the OCAA Men's Volleyball Championships. The Royals advanced to a record 4th consecutive Championship event with a 3-2 thriller over the Algonquin Thunder. This is the 2nd time in program history that Redeemer has gone to the OCAA Championships four years in a row matching the 2009-2013 teams. Redeemer won 3 medals in that 4 year span. The current Redeemer team has won 2 medals in the past 3 years.
The Royals hosted the Thunder Saturday night in a winner-take-all crossover playoff match. Redeemer advances to the Championships, hosted by Fleming College February 27-29. Their quarterfinal opponent will be the #1 East ranked Durham Lords.
Redeemer entered the match as the #4 ranked team in the West Division while the Thunder came in at #5 in the East. Very little separated both teams Saturday night in an epic battle for a Championship berth.
The set scores were 21-25, 25-22, 18-25, 25-23, and 16-14.

Brayden Stoffers led the Royals with 18 Kills.
Brett Jenkins added 12 Kills.
Jason Wildeboer had 7 aces and 3 blocks will
Daniel Wolfert had 38 assists. Algonquin countered with 14 kills and 9 aces from Richard Bucar.
The OCAA Championships get underway next Thursday, February 27th in Peterborough. Game time for the Royals against the Lords is 1pm.
