The Redeemer Royals are headed back to the OCAA Men's Basketball Championships. Redeemer defeated the Centennial Colts Saturday night 97-71 in the OCAA Crossover game.
With the victory, the Royals advance to their 4th consecutive OCAA Championship. The 2020 event will be hosted March 6-8 in Sarnia by Lambton College.
Redeemer entered the game as the #2 ranked team in the OCAA West, finishing the regular season with a 15-5 record. Centennial came in with a 10-10 record, #6 ranked team in the OCAA West.
Elijah Lostracco, Nick Green, and Goran Veselenovic all finished the game with 15 points for Redeemer who never trailed in the match. The Royals widened the gap as the game went on and led by 35 points midway through the 4th quarter.
The home crowd was clearly a factor again on Saturday night as the Royals faithful filled the gym to capacity. Redeemer finishes the season with a 10-2 record at home.
The Sheridan Bruins now await the Royals. Redeemer will travel to Sarnia and will face the Bruins in the Championship Quarterfinals on Friday. Redeemer had a 1-1 conference record against the Bruins this season. The Bruins handed the Royals one of their two losses at home this season before the Royals returned the favor in Oakville.
