Royals women's volleyball downs Fanshawe in five

ANCASTER, ON - The Redeemer University women's volleyball team defeated the Fanshawe Falcons by the score of 3-2 (18-25, 25-22, 24-26, 25-17, 15-10) Wednesday night at the Redeemer Athletic Centre in non-conference action.
The Royals trailed 2-1 before rallying to win sets four and five for the come from behind victory.
The Royals had a balanced offense led by the duo of second year
Rachel Annett (Melbourne, ON) and first year
Kate DeJong (St. Thomas, ON). Annett led the way registering 13 kills and nine digs. Dejong added a double-double collecting 11 kills, 10 digs and a match high seven serve aces. First year
Joelle Lammers (Lynden, ON) chipped in with nine kills while second year setter
Brooklyn Van Rooyen (Acheson, AB) added 28 assists and four digs. Second year libero
Carlene Cecchelli (Hamilton, ON) collected 15 digs in the win.
Fanshawe was led by T. Elgersma who added a match high 15 kills. A. Javaheri collected nine kills and five digs in the loss.
For the match, Redeemer hit .253 registering 39 kills with 14 errors on 99 attempts. Fanshawe hit .205 finishing with 35 kills and 18 errors on 83 attempts. The Royals finished with 14 serve aces to the Falcons six.
The Royals next action is this weekend when they take part in the Georgian College Invitational in Barrie. They open the OCAA regular season at home on October 21st whe they host the Fanshawe Falcons.
