Royals men's basketball drops 85-82 decision to Lions

ANCASTER, ON - The Redeemer University men's basketball team (0-2 overall, 0-1 OCAA) dropped a close 85-82 decision to the Lambton Lions in their 2022-23 OCAA home opener in front of a capacity crowd at the Redeemer Athletic Center Saturday night.
Lambton jumped out to an early 11-4 lead in the opening few minutes and led 21-16 after one quarter. Trailing 25-18, Redeemer put together a 9-2 run to tie the game 27-27 with six minutes left in the second quarter. The Lions answered with a 9-4 run over the next four minutes, and led by five at the half 40-35.
To open the third quarter, Lambton went on a 12-3 run over two minutes leading 52-38 with seven minutes on the clock and led by nine after three quarters 66-57. In the final frame, Redeemer rallied back going on a 13-4 run to bring it within five (75-70) with 4:44 left in regulation. They closed out the final 1:16 on a 5-1 run, but came up short by one possession in the end.
The Royals were led by fourth year guard
Isaiah Brinkley (Rochester, NY) who finished with a game high 29 points going 10-for-20 from the field, including 4-for-8 from beyond the arc. First year
Parker Davis (Hamilton, ON) contributed with 15 points and five rebounds while fourth year
Steven Adeyemi (Las Vegas, NV) added 10 points and eight rebounds off the bench.
The Royals shot 41.1% from the floor going 30-for-73. They went 5-for-21 (23.8%) from long range and 18-for-24 (75.0%) from the free throw line. Lambton was 29-for-63 (46.0%) from the field, 7-for-17 (41.2%) from three-point land and 17-for-23 (73.9%) from the charity stripe.
Redeemer's next action is October 29th when they take on the Conestoga Condors on the road. Their next home contest is November 12th at 7pm when they play host to the Sheridan Bruins.
