Royals women's volleyball downs Cambrian 3-2

vanrooyen-1SUDBURY, ON - The Redeemer University women's volleyball team (3-0 OCAA) captured their third straight conference victory as they defeated the Cambrian Golden Shield by the score of 3-2 (26-28, 25-14, 25-21, 12-25, 15-13) on the road Saturday afternoon.

The Royals were led by second year Rachel Annett (Melbourne, ON) who recorded 15 kills and four digs. Fifth year Victoria Pancucci (Stoney Creek, ON) added six kills and three aces while second year Alyson Stolte (Smithers, BC) and first year Kate DeJong (St. Thomas, ON) both added five kills and four aces each. Second year setter Brooklyn Van Rooyen (Acheson, AB) was one dig shy of the double-double finishing with 32 assists and nine digs. 

Leading Cambrian was Maisie Craig who registered eight kills, seven aces and 10 digs. France Mondoux added eight kills, four aces and 10 digs while Isabelle Rivest collected 21 assists, 11 aces and four kills.

The two teams combined for 46 service aces. Redeemer had a .225 team hitting percentage adding 38 kills with 15 errors on 102 attempts. The Golden Shield finished with 33 kills and 19 errors on 92 attempts for a .152 hitting percentage.

The Royals return to action Saturday, November 5th when they take on the Mohawk Mountaineers on the road as part of the four game Super Saturday at the David Braley Athletic Complex.
