Redeemer men's basketball falls to No. 7 nationally ranked Bruins

ANCASTER, ON - The Redeemer University men's basketball team dropped a 106-94 decision to the No. 7 nationally ranked Sheridan Bruins at the Redeemer Athletic Centre Saturday night.
Redeemer trailed by one (14-13), with 3:38 remaining in the opening quarter, before Sheridan went on a .
11-3 run to lead 25-16 after 10 minutes.
In the second quarter, the Royals would put together a 12-0 run to take a 30-29 lead. The Bruins closed out the second half with 26-10 run, highlighted by five three balls to take a 56-40 lead at the half.
The Royals pushed hard in the second half, outscoring Sheridan 54-50, but could not bring the deficit within seven dropping their second straight in the OCAA West division.
The Royals had four players record double figures led by first year
Parker Davis (Hamilton, ON) who finished with 18 points, seven rebounds and three assists. Third year
Will Dykstra (Surrey, BC) added 16 points and 11 rebounds for the double-double while fourth year
Isaiah Brinkley (Rochester, NY) and first year
Robert Mannella (Burlington, ON) both added 15 points each. First year
Malachi Wayne Scott (Mississauga, ON) chipped in with 10 points and nine rebounds in the loss.Â
Sheridan was led by Mahad Sied and Mohamed Quasim who both recorded 20 points each.Â
For the game, Redeemer shot 46.3% (37-for-80) from the field, 31.0% (9-for-29) from beyond the arc and 11-for-17 (64.7%) from the free throw line. Sheridan went 40-for-85 (47.1%) from the floor, including 14-for-43 (32.6%) from long range. Â
The Royals return to action November 16th when they take on the Fanshawe Falcons on the road. The next home contest is November 19th at 8pm when they host the Niagara Knights as part of the Super Saturday at the Redeemer Athletic Centre.
