Royals men's basketball falls to Falcons 94-82

mannella-1London, ON - The Redeemer University men's basketball team fell to the Fanshawe Falcons by the score of 94-82 Wednesday night on the road.

Fanshawe led 12-5 midway through the first quarter, before going on a 10-3 run to go up 22-8 with two minutes left on the clock. Redeemer trailed 25-14 after 10 minutes.

After trailing 44-36 at the half, the Royals would bring it to within seven points, 40-33 with 1:49 left in the third quarter, but that was as close as they would come as they dropped their OCAA West record to 1-4. Fanshawe improves to 2-4.

Leading the Royals was second year Robert Mannella (Burlington, ON) who recorded 18 points, including four 3-pointers. Third year Will Dykstra (Surrey, BC) registered 18 points going 7-for-11 from the field. He also pulled down eight rebounds. Also in double figures was third year Adam Pavlik (Grimsby, ON) who contributed with 14 points and first year Parker Davis (Hamilton, ON) who finished with 11 points in the loss.

Fanshawe had six players in double figures led by Jalen Deerr who finished with 21 points.

For the game Redeemer shot 48.3% (29-for-60) from the field, 33.1% (7-for-21) from beyond the arc and 68% (17-for-25) from the free throw line. The Falcons went 37-for-68 (54.4%) from the floor, 42.1% (8-for-19) from long range and 63.2% (12-for-19) from the charity stripe.

The Royals return to action this Saturday November 19th at 8pm when they host the Niagara College Knights at the Redeemer Athletic Centre.
