Redeemer men's basketball falls to Mohawk 108-88

HAMILTON, ON - The Redeemer University men's basketball team dropped a 108-88 decision to the No.4 OCAA ranked Mohawk Mountaineers Saturday afternoon at the David Braley Athletic & Recreation Complex.
Redeemer trailed by four after one quarter, 23-19, and by six at the half 49-43. In the third quarter, the Mountaineers extended their lead to 13 and in the final quarter they knocked down three straight three balls to extend their lead to 20 points 92-72 on route to their fourth straight win. With the loss, the Royals drop to 1-2 on the season.
The Royals had three players in double figures led by fourth year
Isaiah Brinkley (Rochester, NY) who recorded 22 points, including his 1000th of his collegiate career at Redeemer, Onondaga and Mohawk Valley. He was 9-for-18 from the field and recorded five rebounds and five assists. Third year
Adam Pavlik (Grimsby, ON) chipped in with 13 points and five rebounds while first year
Parker Davis (Hamilton, ON) added 11 points and five rebounds.
Mohawk had five players record double figures led by Daniel Graham who registered 28 points including 6-for-13 from three-point land. Jerry Mercury Jr. chipped in with 21 points and nine rebounds.
Redeemer shot 36-for-72 (50.0%) from the field, 9-for-19 (47.4%) from beyond the arc and 7-for-7 (100.%) from the free throw line. The Mountaineers were 40-for-83 (48.2%) from the floor including 14-for-42 (33.3%) from long range and a perfect 14-14 (100.0%) from the charity stripe.
