The Redeemer Royals Men's Volleyball team are on their way to the 2022 OCAA Men's Volleyball Final Four. Redeemer took care of the East #3 Algonquin Wolves Saturday afternoon 3-1.
The first set was back and forth throughout the first half with neither team able to build much of a lead. The Royals' consistency paid off as they were able to capture the first set 25-18 over the Wolves.Â
The Wolves did not back off after the first set loss and were able to steal the second set from the Royals with a score of 25-22. The Royals then took charge for the remainder of the game. The Royals secured the third and fourth set victories with scores of 25-12, 25-15.
The Royals were led by 3rd year
Brett Jenkins who recorded 17 total points from 8 kills, 2 blocks and 7 service aces. The Royals were also propelled over the Wolves from
Brayden Stoffers' contribution of 13 points from 10 kills, 2 blocks and 1 service ace.
William Winkelhorst and
Jason Wildeboer also contributed 11 points for the Royals, including a game-high 8 service aces from Wildeboer.Â
Redeemer will now advance to the semifinal Wednesday, March 16 where they will play the Canadore Panthers, the winner of their quarter-final match against the Mohawk Mountaineers. Opening serve for the semifinal match is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Wednesday at Canadore College in North Bay, ON.
