MEN'S VOLLEYBALL PLAYOFF PREVIEW

The Redeemer Royals Men's Volleyball team will look to advance to the quarter-finals tonight when they host the Niagara Knights in a playoff match.

With the re-worked 2022 schedule, the regular Final 8 tournament will not be happening, but instead, the Final Four tournament will be hosted by the highest Men's Volleyball seed. 

Redeemer earned the opportunity to host the Playoff crossover after finishing 2nd in the OCAA West. Their opponent, the Knights, finished 7th in the OCAA West. The Royals boast an 8-1 record, while the Knights hold a record of 3-6. The two teams clashed last week Saturday in a 5-set thriller seeing the Royals come out on top 3 sets to 2. 

Redeemer is led by the trio of Brett Jenkins, Brayden Stoffers and Jason Wildeboer. Jenkins finished 9th in the OCAA with 3.8 PTS/S, while Stoffers sits right behind him in 10th with 3.7 PTS/S. The Royals strong offense is led by veteran setter Jason Wildeboer. Wildeboer finished the regular season with 234 total assists, sitting 10th with 7.31 ASTS/S. 

Niagara counters with Colin Prelaz. Prelaz finished the season with 2.9 PTS/S sitting 27th.  

The winner of tonight's match will advance to the OCAA Quarterfinals and a date with the winner of the qualifying match between the #3 East ranked Algonquin Wolves and the #6 East ranked George Brown Huskies.

 Tonight's match gets underway at 7:00 pm at Redeemer University in Ancaster and will be streamed on Royals TV. COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted and Redeemer University will be allowing outside spectators. All spectators will be asked to complete a verbal screening at the door and are required to wear a mask.
