Ancaster, ON - The Redeemer Royals men's basketball team (0-1 pre-season) dropped a 110-65 decision to the McMaster Marauders Wednesday night at home in pre-season action.
The Royals trailed 36-18 after one quarter and 60-40 at the half.
In the second half, McMaster put together a 19-0 run to go up by as many as 39 (79-40) after 30 minutes and cruised to the road victory.
Leading the Redeemer offense was
Steven Adeyemi (Las Vegas, NV) who registered 10 points going 4-for-6 from the field. First year
Parker Davis (Hamilton, ON) added eight points in his Royals debut while second year
Isaiah Brinkley (Rochester, NY) and third year
Robert Mannella (Burlington, ON) both collected eight points each in the loss.
McMaster had five players in double figures led by Cashius McNeilly and Tristan Lindo who registered 23 and 19 points respectively.
McMaster shot 70.1% from the field going 47-for-67 including 9-for-16 (56.3%) from beyond the arc. Redeemer was 21-for-55 (38.2%) from the floor, 6-for-17 (35.3%) from three point range and 17-for-23 (73.9%) from the free throw line.
The Marauders are 1-1 in the pre-season having dropped a 15 point decision (97-82) to NCAA Division I Oregon Ducks who went 5-0 on their Canadian Tour.
The Royals will host the Alumni Game at 8pm October 1st as part of the Redeemer University 40th Anniversary celebration.
Their next action is October 3rd when they travel to London to take on the Western Mustangs in pre-season action.
