Men's Soccer blanks Fleming Knights 5-0

PETERBOROUGH, ON - The Redeemer Royals men's soccer closed out the non-conference schedule with a 5-0 road victory over the Fleming Knights Tuesday night in Peterborough.
"Fleming pressed early on but we were able to weather the storm early and took control of the match with our possession and tempo of play," said first year head coach
Matt Hahn. "Our offense played well producing many scoring opportunities through the midfield. Our defensive unit was strong throughout and in his first start Adam (Katerberg) was solid in goal."
First year forward Ryan Pitangueira Barbosa (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) opened the scoring for the Royals 15 minutes into the opening half with the assist from third year
Gabriel Schilke (Smith Falls, ON).
The Royals would break the game open in the second half adding four more.
Fourth year
Matthew Walraven (Burlington, ON) would make it 2-0 Redeemer in the 50th minute, answering with a penalty kick off Fleming starting goalkeeper Logan Scott.
Walraven would add his second goal of the game in the 55th minute with the assist to first year
Zac Collins.
Redeemer added two insurance goals in the final 10 minutes of regulation. In the 80th minute, Second year
Sean Park (Seoul, South Korea) would put it on the head of second year
Hunter Packalen (Milton, ON) off a corner kick to make it 4-0. In the final minute of regulation Walraven would setup Park for his first goal of the season.
Walraven finished the night with two goals and one assist for the three-point performance.
In goal, Royals third year starter
Adam Katerberg (Listowel, ON) registered seven saves for the shutout.Â
The Royals next action is at home on September 10th at 7pm when they open the OCAA regular season against the Sheridan Bruins.
