Women's Soccer rolls past Fleming 3-0

PETERBOROUGH, ON - The Redeemer women's soccer team improved to 2-0 in non-conference action as they defeated the Fleming Knights by the score of 3-0 on the road Tuesday night.
"Tonight we played a very hard fought game," said first year head coach
Meaghan Rudd. "We persevered right until the end of 90 minutes. We played a very solid defensive game limiting Fleming's scoring opportunities and were able to produce many strong offensive chances. Overall it was a great game to build on going into Saturday's regular season homeopener."
Redeemer opened the scoring 21 minutes into the opening half as third year
Ellie de Jong (Hamilton, ON) setup second year
Breanne Forrest (Guelph, ON) for her first goal of the season.
The Royals would add to their lead at the 71 minute mark, when Forrest found second year
Esther DeHaan (Smithville, ON) who buried it past the Knights goalkeeper for her second goal of the campaign.
Just over 10 minutes later, it was the duo of Forrest and DeHaan again. DeHaan registered her second goal of the night, while Forrest finished with a three-point performance adding the game winning goal to go along with two assists.
In goal, fifth year starter
Lilly Brown (Stoney Creek, ON)Â Â turned aside five shots for her second straight shutout.
The Royals next action is at home on September 10th at 5pm when they open the OCAA regular season against the Sheridan Bruins.
