Redeemer men's basketball falls to Ithaca 87-80

ANCASTER, ON - The Redeemer University men's basketball team dropped an 87-80 decision to the Ithaca College Bombers in pre-season action at the Redeemer Athletic Centre Thursday night.
The Royals held a 23-14 lead after one quarter and led by 11 points, 45-34 at the half.
In the third quarter, Ithaca put together a 10-2Â run and took their first lead of the game late in the quarter leading 61-59Â after thirty minutes.Â
In the fourth quarter, Ithaca's offense was able to hit some clutch three's and had a number of second chance points with strong offensive boards, taking a 73-59 midway through the final frame.  Redeemer's offense answered back with a 17-8 run to make it 81-76 with just over a minute left.
Ithaca's Logan Wendell knocked down 5-of-6 free throws in the final 45 seconds to secure the road win as part of their International Tour.
Leading the Royals offense was
Will Dykstra and
Armeen Fazelipour who both recorded 14 points each.Â
Alex Naovarath chipped in with 13 points while
Robert Mannella added nine points in the loss.
Ithaca was led by Wendell who finished with a game high 27 points including six three-pointers. Jaylon O'Neal (12 points) and Evan Cabral (10 points) rounded out the Bombers leaders.
The Royals host McDaniel College Saturday night 7pm at the Redeemer Athletic Centre.
