ANCASTER, ON – The Redeemer University's women's volleyball team opened the 2023-24 season with a 3-0 win over Boreal in front of a crowd of 250 enthusiastic fans at the Redeemer Athletic Centre Friday night. Scores were 25-14, 25-10 and 25-18.
Redeemer's offensive power was on full display with an impressive 37 total kills and a hitting percentage of .214. The rookie duo of
Avry Sabo and
Leah Lammers led the way. Sabo finished with 10 kills, 13 digs and six aces while Lammers added seven kills, three aces and a match high 17 digs.
Kate DeJong added nine kills and 10 digs while
Joelle Lammers rounded out the leaders with seven kills. Alana Heidburt added 24 assists and five digs while the libero pair of
Avery Surette and
Carlene Cecchelli combined for 16 digs in the victory.
Boreal were led by Amy Vis with two kills and Isabelle Wallace with 10 digs.
The Royals return to action Saturday at 1pm when they host Cambrian College.
