Royals men's volleyball rallies to defeat Cambrian 3-2

ANCASTER, ON - The Redeemer University men's volleyball team rallied from two sets down to defeat, the Cambrian College Golden Shield by the score of 3–2 Saturday night in front of a crowd of 300 at the Redeemer athletic complex.

The Royals dropped the first two sets 25-14 and 27-25, before winning three straight 26-24, 29-27 and 15-8 for their first win of the regular season.

The Royals were led by second year Derek Breukelman, who recorded 13 kills with a .367 hitting percentage. First year Simon Bourne added 11 kills,10 digs, three aces and three blocks while first year Jonah Heidburt collected 11 kills an four aces. Jack Demic rounded out the Redeemer leaders finishing with seven kills, nine blocks with a .615 hitting percentage. Third year libero Carson Graham registered 18 digs while third year setter Andrew Van Dyke finished with a game high 44 assists, six digs and five blocks.

Cambrian was led by Sven Trodel who recorded 13 kills and Liam Hansen who finished with eight.

For the match, Redeemer hit .274 adding 48 kills 17 errors on 113 attempts. Cambrian collected 39 kills 14 errors on 95 attempts for a decimal .263 heading percentage.

The Royals next action is October 25th when they take on the Fanshawe Falcons on the road.
