WELLAND, ON - The Redeemer University women's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw against the Niagara College Knights Saturday on the road. With the tie, the Royals improve to 3-1-4 on the regular season.
Right off the start, Redeemer controlled the play and outshot Niagara by a 9-1 margin. Redeemer would have a number of key opportunities but could not solve Knights goalkeeper McKenzie Hynes in the opening 45 minutes.
Redeemer would get on the scoreboard first as
Kendra Sieders beat Hynes to make it a 1-0 lead. This was Sieders first regular season goal and now has six points.
In the 76th minute, Niagara evened the score 1-1 as Mia DiPasquale setup Tori Hultink for her first goal of the season.
Royals fifth year starter
Lilly Brown recorded two saves for the victory. Hynes finished with a game high 14 saves in the loss.
The Royals return to action October 11th when they host the Sheridan College Bruins on Senior Night at David Mantel Field.
