Royals men's soccer falls to Roberts Wesleyan in NCAAA Regional

ROCHESTER, NY - The Redeemer University men's soccer team dropped a tough 4-1 decision to the Roberts Wesleyan RedHawks Saturday night in Rochester.

With the loss, the Royals finished the 2023 campaign one win shy of reaching the NCCAA National Championships for the first time.

After a scoreless opening half, Redeemer struck first in the 47th minute as captain Hunter Packalen setup first year Kieran Wilson for his first postseason goal.

The offensive minded Redhawks scored four goals in the final 40 minutes to defeat Redeemer 4-1 in the Midwest Region championship match to earn a berth in the National Christian College Athletic Association Division I National Championship in Kissimmee, Fla. Roberts finished second in the 2022 NCCAA Championships.

Redeemer was outshot by a 14-5 margin. Royals starting goalkeeper Matthew Derks recorded 11 saves while Roberts Caleb DaSilva collected four saves for the victory.
