Ancaster, ON - The Redeemer University women's basketball team defeated the Conestoga Condors by the score of 78-62 Wednesday night at the Redeemer Athletic Centre.
The Royals had five players reach double figures led by first year
Julia Stayshyn (Dundas, ON) who recorded 20 points, 15 rebounds, five assists, four steals and career high four blocks. With her 15 rebound performance, Stayshyn moved ahead of Lucy Brinkman (122), Samantha Donald (127), and Kayla Prete (132) into 8th all-time in single season rebounds with 134.
Fourth year
Jessica Angelini (Hamilton, ON) recorded 15 points, including 3 three-pointers to go along with five rebounds and four assists. First year
Talia Vreugdenhil (Frankford, ON) added 14 points and nine rebounds while second year
Karyn TeBrake (Ottawa, ON) chipped in with 14 points, five assists and four rebounds. Rounding out the Royals leaders was second year
Avery Cline (Grimsby, ON) who registered a career high 11 points going 5-for-8 (62.5%) from the field.
Conestoga was led by OCAA leading scorer Yasmeen Smith who recorded 24 points and 11 rebounds in the loss.
For the game, the Royals shot 42.9% (27-63) from the field, 40.0% (8-for-20) from beyond the arc and 69.6% (16-23) from the free throw line. Conestoga went 24-80 (30.0%) from the field, 6-22 (27.3%) from three-point land and 8-10 (80.0%) from the charity stripe.
The Royals return to action Tuesday, February 7th when they host the Fanshawe Falcons at the Redeemer Athletic Centre. Tip-off is 6pm.
