LONDON, ON - The Redeemer University men's volleyball team dropped a tough 3-0 decision to the No. 2 nationally ranked Fanshawe Falcons (19-25, 23-25, 22-25) in the OCAA Quarter-Finals Thursday night in Game Four of the 2023 OCAA Volleyball Championships.
Leading the Royals attack was senior outside hitter
William Winkelhorst (Newcastle, ON) who registered 10 kills and nine digs. Second year middle
Caleb Joosse (Peterborough, ON) recorded eight kills on 10 attempts for an .800 hitting percentage while adding two blocks. Third year outside hitter
Brett Jenkins (Peterborough, ON) added seven kills and nine digs while second year middle
Patrick Belisle (Hamilton, ON) (6 kills, 5 digs) and first year outside hitter
Derick Breukelman (Burlington, ON) (5 kills, 11 digs, 2 blocks) rounded out the Redeemer leaders.
Second year setter
Andrew Van Dyke (Guelph, ON) handed out 30 assists and had seven digs while second year libero
Carsen Grim (Langley, BC) added six digs in the loss.
Fanshawe was led Jack Vogt and Daniel Ridings who collected 12 and 10 kills respectively.
For the match, the Royals recorded 42 kills with 16 errors on 117 attempts for a .222 hitting efficiency. The Falcons hit .233 adding 39 kills with 15 errors on 103 attempts.
Redeemer finishes the 2022-23 campaign with an overall record of 11-9 (10-8 regular season). Congratulations on great university careers from the 2023 Royals graduating class of
