Oshawa, ON - The Redeemer University men's basketball team fell to the No. 3 nationally ranked George Brown Huskies by the score of 102-84 in the crossover game Saturday afternoon on the road.
Four minutes into the first quarter, Redeemer trailed 12-8, before George Brown went on a 12-2 run to take a 24-10 lead with 2:29 left in the opening quarter. The Huskies held a 27-18 lead after 10. In the second quarter, George Brown's offense continued to role as they put together a 13-3 run to go up 40-21 with five minutes left in the half. The Royals trailed 55-34 after 20 minutes.
In the second half, Redeemer outscored the Huskies 50-47, but that half-time deficit was to much to rebound from against the third ranked team in Canada, who now advance to the OCAA Championships next week in Windsor, hosted by St. Clair.
The Royals offense was led by first year
Parker Davis (Hamilton, ON) who recorded a career high 33 points going 12-for-17 from the field and 8-10 from the free throw line. Fourth year
Isaiah Brinkley (Rochester, NY) registered 17 points, four rebounds and three assists, while second year
Robert Mannella (Burlington, ON) added 10 points, four rebounds and three steals in the loss.
George Brown was led by Jeremiah Brown who recorded 27 points, including 5-for-6 from beyond the arc. Â
For the game, Redeemer went 27-63 (42.9%) from the field, 7-17 (41.2%) from three-point land and 23-28 (82.1%) from the free throw line. The Huskies shot 47.3% (35-74) from the floor, 40.5% (15-37) from long range and 68.0% (17-25) from the charity stripe.
