ANCASTER, ON. The final day of the OCAA Women's Soccer Championships had the Royals competing for a Bronze Medal. Redeemer women's outdoor soccer has only one medal in program history. The sole Royals medal is a Silver from 1991.

The Royals were set to face the Sheridan Bruins at Noon. Redeemer beat the Bruins in the regular season 3-1, however, the Bruins have been on a miraculous playoff run. Sheridan entered the playoffs as the OCAA West seventh seed. On route to the OCAA Final Four the Bruins upset the St. Clair Saints and Durham Lords.

Bronze medal action kicked off and the Bruins were riding their Cinderella story momentum. Sheridan carried an onslaught of offensive pressure and opened the scoring minutes into the match.  The Bruins were not satisfied with the one-goal lead. Later in the opening half, a scramble play in the box led to a Sheridan penalty kick. The Bruins capitalized from their opportunity at the spot to take a two-nil lead into halftime.

The top-seeded Royals were not going down without a fight. Redeemer opened the second half with urgency. The Royals built up the possession and calculated their attack. Fifteen minutes into the second half the Royals got on the board. Senior Midfielder Leah Sloots found the back of the net for the Royals to bring them within one.

With time winding down Redeemer desperately saught an equalizer to force extra time. Possession after possession that the Royals built up was shut down one pass away from a scoring opportunity. The Bruins closed out the final minutes to capture the OCAA Bronze Medal 2-1.

Redeemer falls short of their second medal in program history. Royals Women's soccer concludes a phenomenal OCAA season that marks the history books for numerous accomplishments.
