Two Royals Earn CCAA National Championship Bids at OCAA Championships
ANCASTER, ON. Cross Country participated in the OCAA Championships hosted by Seneca Polytechnic on Saturday morning. The Royals have participated in four events leading to the championships, including one at the host venue. The narrow and elevated track makes for a gruelling championship race.
Entering the Championships the Royals were chasing the limited CCAA National Championships available. This year the top fifteen individual runners and top six teams qualify for the national championships hosted by St. Clair College.Â
On the women's side, the sole runner for the Royals Thea Van Haltren had an excellent race placing in 14th. Van Haltren qualified for her third national championship as a Royal. Thea was named an OCAA Second Team All-star.
On the Men's side, the Royals chased after their first team qualification in several years. Leading the Royals was Provincial standout
Ethan Kruisselbrink. Ethan finished in 13th place earning himself a National championship bid. Ethan was named an OCAA Second Team All-star. Following Kruisselbrink were Denver Packlan and
Zach Braam who finished 26th and 28th respectively. Rounding out the Men's team was
Matteo Cristiano who finished 52nd. The Men's team narrowly missed a team qualification finishing 7th place overall.

In addition to the CCAA National Championships. Redeemer looks to the NCCAA National Championship in Warsaw, Indiana on November 15th. The Royals have three men's runners ranked in the top 15, including NCCAA DII number 1,
Ethan Kruisselbrink. Women's Runner Thea Van Haltren sits at number 10 in the NCCAA.Â
