ANCASTER, ON. The Redeemer Royals travelled to Etobicoke, ON to face the Humber Hawks. This is the first match between the two sides this season. The Humber Hawks have gotten off to an impressive 4-1 start. Redeemer looked to start a winning streak against the Hawks by picking up their second straight win.
The Royals opened the first quarter with a strong showing. Led by
Daniella Zondag's 9 first-quarter points, the Royals only trailed by four at the end of the opening quarter. The Royals did an excellent job controlling the glass in the first quarter as they recorded more than double theÂ
Hawks's rebounds.
Redeemer continued their strong performance in the second quarter. The Royals and Hawks tied the second quarter leaving the Hawks with only a four-point lead heading into the half.
The Humber Hawks halftime adjustments proved useful as they rallied to extend their lead to sixteen by the end of the third quarter. Humber finally began to control the glass and it translated to them extending their lead.Â
Redeemer was committed to fighting to the final buzzer. The Royals bounced back in the fourth quarter and matched the Hawks's offensive output. Humber ultimately took the match 82-66.Â
Standout Royals include Syndey Drain and
Mia Palango. Drain nearly recorded a triple-double as she scored a game-high 21 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. Palango followed close behind with 11 points and eight rebounds.
The Royals next match is against the Sheridan Bruins on Tuesday, November 19th.Â
