Women's Soccer Advances to Second Straight NCCAA National Championship
ANCASTER, ON. The NCCAA Divison I Women's Soccer Championship field was set on November 22nd. The Redeemer Royals qualified for their second straight championship appearance. This year's National Championships return to the Austin-Tindall Sports Complex in Kissimmee, FL. The Royals went 0-2 in last year's tournament and are constructed to make a title run this season. Following one of the program's most historic OCAA seasons, the OCAA West Division Champions have gained valuable playoff experience that will serve them well at the NCCAA Championships.
Following the completion of the Regional Championship playoffs, the NCCAA tournament committee chose the At-Large Selections for the Division I Women's Soccer National Championship to complete the playing field. The six qualifying teams include #1 ranked Judson University, #2 Redeemer University, #3 Trinity Christian College, #4 Bethel University, #5 Asbury University and #6 Warner University.
Bethel University and Redeemer are the only two returning teams from last year's championships. Bethel are the defending National Champions and are ranked 4th entering this year's championship. The Royals faced the Pilots last year and fell 1-nil in pool play.
As the two seed in this year's championships, Redeemer will be the top seed in their pool. The Royals are set to face #6 Warner University on Monday, December 2nd at 3:30 PM. Redeemer will play the #3 seed Trinity Christian College on Wednesday, December 4th at 3:30 PM. The winner of Pool A and Pool B will advance to the National Championship match on Friday, December 6th at 6:00 PM.
As part of the NCCAA, each National Championship is involved in a #KingChasing Christian Service Project. This year's service project will benefit Living Hope International, which serves at-risk kids, prison inmates, and the homeless in the local community. Each athlete will purchase and bring a $5-8 toy. Each team is also asked to donate 20 pairs of kids socks and 10 pairs of adult socks.
