Scarlett Surette Leads Royals to Straight Set Win in Sudbury

ANCASTER, ON.  Women's volleyball travelled to Sudbury, ON for a weekend road trip to face the Boreal Vipers and Cambrian Shield. Friday night the Royals squared off against the 0-9 Vipers.

Redeemer got to work early and did not slow down. The Royals took the match in straight sets (25-9, 25-17, 25-6). Redeemer displayed the depth of their squad as nine different Royals recorded points in the match. Leading the way offensively was first-year middle Scarlett Surette. The rookie posted a game-high 9 kills on .800 hitting efficiency. Rileigh Reynoldson was also a key contributor for the Royals success. The outside hitter recorded 8 service aces on the match. Reynoldson's 8 aces ties for the fourth most aces in a single match in program history behind Jasmyn Stoffers 13 aces recorded in 2020.

The Royals improve to 5-5 on the year. Saturday's match against the Cambrian Shield is a significant one. The Shield are 4-5 on the year, and sit one spot behind the Royals in the OCAA West standings. The Shield knocked off the third-place Mohawk Mountaineers Friday night 3-1. Saturday's match will be one to watch and will spark some movement in the standings.
