ANCASTER, ON The Royals improve to 5-9 and riding a 3-game win streak. Redeemer secured their 3rd straight victory with a win over the Sheridan Bruins 77-61 Saturday evening. Redeemer led for the entire duration of the match.
Shining bright for the Royals was Steffanie Blair, who tied the single-game program record for Rebounds (20). Blair not only dominated the glass but also led the Royals in scoring posting 18 points.
Following close behind Blair was second-year Talia Vreugdenhil who posted her second consecutive double-double. Vreugdenhil recorded 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Jessica Angelini also had an impressive scoring night with 16 points, 12 of which came from beyond the arc.
Two games remain for the Royals before they enter the OCAA playoffs. Currently, the Royals sit in 6th place in the Western Division. Redeemer will likely face either the East division number two seed, Georgian Grizzlies (10-2), or the third-seeded George Brown Huskies (7-6).
One week remains in the OCAA basketball regular season with plenty of time to shake up the standings. Redeemer returns to action when they host the Lambton Lions on February 9th.
