ANCASTER, ON. The Redeemer Royals (9-9) end the OCAA regular season with a 3-1 victory over the Conestoga Condors (9-9). Despite the win, the Royals finish in 6th place in the west one spot behind the Condors.
A key to the Royals Saturday afternoon win was their service pressure. Redeemer tallied 19 aces through four sets.
Joelle Lammers led the way from the service line for the Royals with 7 of her own.
Third year outside hitter
Rachel Annett had a spectacular match against the Condors. Annett notched 10 kills and maintained a .500 hitting percentage.
The Royals await playoff seeding to be solidified by the end of the weekend. Redeemer's likely match-up is the Loyalist Lancers. The Lancers and Royals faced off in exhibition play over the winter break where the Royals fell 3-1.
Senior,
Carlene Cecchelli expressed her optimism when asked about the potential playoff match-up. Cecchelli is looking forward to the opportunity to play in Belleville, and hopes that the many Redeemer Alumni that reside in the area attend the match to cheer on the Royals.
