Former Pro Jarrod Maidens Joins Royals Coaching Staff
Redeemer Royals Hockey is excited to announce the addition of Jarrod Maidens to their Coaching Staff. With extensive experience in developing technical skills for hockey players, Maidens has been instrumental in shaping young talents through Maidens' Hockey camps and private development sessions at The Shooting Lab. With Maidens on board, current Royals and future prospects can be confident that they will add new skills to their game and further hone the talent they currently possess.
Maidens' coaching resume is impressive, but his playing career is even more remarkable. He scored the overtime goal in Game 7 that clinched the OHL Championship for the Owen Sound Attack. Additionally, Maidens was a point-per-game player leading to a gold medal for Team Canada at the Under-18 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament and was drafted in the third round of the NHL draft by the Ottawa Senators. Unfortunately, his playing career was cut short due to concussions.
Expressing his enthusiasm about joining the Royals, Maidens stated, "I am excited to join the Royals Hockey program and the culture they have developed as it combines the two biggest passions in my life, my faith in Jesus, and hockey. I am eager to help players grow their skills on the ice and in their faith. Despite my playing career ending due to injuries, I have seen God open many doors through my hockey career, and I see Him opening another door for me with this opportunity to impact young Christian athletes who are on a similar journey with the Royals hockey team."
Royals Hockey General Manager David Scholman added, "When considering who to bring on board as a skills coach, Jarrod was an obvious choice. He fits perfectly into our team culture and the Vertical Purpose initiative we have adopted in Royals Athletics, where we aim to develop the highest level of Christian Student-Athletes who will represent Christ both on and off the ice. Jarrod's playing, coaching, instructing experience and faith will help take our program and Student-Athletes to the next level."
The Royals will debut in October in their inaugural season in the UNYCHL, a conference that includes US programs such as Niagara University and Canisius University Buffalo.
