Box Score SARNIA, ON. Redeemer Royals Women's Basketball (3-7) was on the road Saturday afternoon as they faced the Lambton Lions (6-5). Lambton is the reigning OCAA Champions, however, they have struggled to maintain their dominance this season. The last time the two sides faced it was the season opener. Redeemer narrowly fell 71-60.
The Lambton Lions opened Saturday's action quickly. The Lions jumped to an early first-quarter lead with an 8-0 run. The Royals were able to get on the board, however the early damage was already done. Lambton maintained their lead and finished the first quarter leading Redeemer 17-8.
Following a slow first quarter the Royals were determined to establish their offense in quarter number two. Lambton answered the Royal's adjustments and continued to build on their lead. The Royals were dominant on the offensive glass in the opening half recording 16 rebounds in Lambton's end.
Talia Vreugdenhil dominated the glass recording 9 rebounds in the first half.
Despite the Royals excellent rebounding, Lambton led 31-17 at halftime.
Redeemer improved on their first-half performance in the third quarter. The Royals increased their scoring each quarter. Despite the Royal's improvements, Lambton also progressed as the game went on. Lambton led 51-29 after three quarters.
The Lambton Lions played a strong match against the Royals and captured the win 61-39.
Redeemer's next match is Wednesday, January 22nd as they host the Mohawk Mountaineers.
