ANCASTER, ON. The Redeemer Royals Men's Basketball team as they hosted the #1 ranked Humber Hawks on Friday, January 31st, 2025. While the final score of 102-72 wasn't what the Royals had hoped for, Redeemer had the opportunity to celebrate two graduating athletes,
Alex Naovarath and
Robert Mannella.
The game began with a lot of energy, as Redeemer hung tough early. The Royals kept pace with the high-flying Hawks in the first quarter, but Humber's depth and experience eventually helped them pull away, leading 26-17 after the first 10 minutes. The second quarter saw Humber continue to build their lead, with the Royals trailing 56-38 at the half. Redeemer fought hard, but the #1 team in the country showed why they're at the top, executing their game plan with precision.
Coming out of halftime, the Royals didn't back down, continuing to give it their all. But Humber's explosive offense kept them ahead, outscoring the Royals 22-18 in the third quarter to make it 78-56 going into the final frame. Despite a gutsy effort, the Hawks put the game out of reach in the fourth, finishing with a 102-72 win.
Adam Pavlik was a standout for Redeemer, putting up a season-high 19 points. The veteran forward had a fantastic night, both offensively and defensively, showing why he's one of the team's most consistent players. His leadership and determination were on full display, and he kept the Royals competitive for as long as possible.
On his senior Night,
Robert Mannella also made his mark. The senior guard finished with 15 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists.Â
