ANCASTER, ON - The Redeemer Royals women's basketball team put together a gutsy and complete performance on Wednesday night, earning a 71-65 win over the Conestoga Condors. Despite having only six players dressed, every Royal stepped up in key moments to secure the hard-fought road victory.
Redeemer held slim leads throughout the game, up 17-15 after the first quarter and 28-26 at halftime. The Royals continued to grind defensively, maintaining a 43-39 edge heading into the fourth. In the final frame, Redeemer's composure and teamwork made the difference as they pulled away late to claim their first win of the season.
Sophia VanRaalte led the Royals offensively with a standout 23-point performance, adding 7 rebounds and 2 blocks in an impressive all-around effort.
Abigail Hoogland was a force on the glass, recording a team-high 10 rebounds to go along with 9 points.
Four Royals finished in double digits as Redeemer picked up the well-earned victory.Â
Redeemer is back in action next Wednesday as they welcome the Humber Hawks to the Redeemer Athletic Centre.
